About Our Allergy Nurse

Our Allergy Nurse performs Skin Prick Testing (SPT) & Airborne Allergy Testing

Skin Prick Testing (SPT) is a sensitive allergy test used to identify common environmental and aeroallergens. Results are available within 20 minutes, which allow you to discuss the results of the test with your doctor on the same day. SPT is usually well tolerated and can be performed on small young children. The test involves introducing a very small quantity of allergen extract into the skin by way of prick device. If an allergy is present, a noticeable small local reaction will be detectable. The size of the reaction on the skin is an indicator as to how severe the allergy is. These results can be used to guide management strategies.
