A/Prof Kalish completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with first class honours, followed by general surgical and combined Surgeon-Scientist training. He acquired a Masters of Medicine from UNSW for molecular research at the Garvan Institute in Sydney, as well as a Masters in Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology (medical research and statistics) from the University of Sydney.

On completing his FRACS in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery he spent time with some of the world’s foremost Rhinologist (sinus surgeons) and Allergists in Sao Paulo Brazil, across the Unites States of America, London, Oxford UK and Milan, Italy.

He is currently the director of the Sydney Sinus & Allergy Centre, the Head of Department of Concord Hospital ENT department, which is a tertiary referral centre for advanced Rhinology and anterior skull base surgery and is a VMO at Canterbury Hospital. He is a founding member of East Sydney Private Hospital and is the current chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee. A/Prof Kalish is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney and continues to present at numerous national and international meetings as invited faculty and a keynote speaker. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored textbook chapters. He is involved in medical student through to postgraduate level teaching as well as training courses for other specialists. He is a past chairperson of ASOHNS NSW, and the current ASOHNS NSW CPD coordinator.
