Speech Pathologist

Nikki completed a Bachelor of Science degree (Pharmacology) in 1995 and an Applied Science degree (Speech Pathology) in 2000. She has worked at various teaching hospitals including Royal North Shore, Westmead and Concord Hospitals. She has worked/specialised in ENT and Voice/Head and Neck surgery throughout that time. She also has extensive experience in acute adult care including dysphagia (swallowing), tracheostomy and communication (language and speech) assessment and treatment across every caseload (ICU, Respiratory, Cardiology, Geriatrics, Burns etc).

 In 2003, Nikki initiated and implemented the commencement of the Voice Clinic at Concord Hospital. Nikki received accreditation from the ENT department at Concord Hospital in 2004 to conduct nasendoscopy independently, being one of only a few Speech Pathologists in Australia able to perform the procedure. Nikki was closely involved in the development and establishment of the multi-disciplinary tracheostomy team at Concord Hospital.

Nikki is currently a practising member of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA). Nikki was a member of the Voice Interest Group (VIG) NSW from 2001 until 2007 and also chaired and coordinated the group in 2006. Nikki was a member of the Tracheostomy Discussion and Evidence Based Practice Group from 2004 until 2007, chairing the group in 2006.

 In 2009, Nikki started working in private practice and started her own private practice at the Sydney Sinus and Allergy Centre at the end of that year.  Nikki is a very understanding and empathic therapist, with excellent clinical and counselling skills. She is dedicated to remaining current in her knowledge and keeping abreast of thinking across a wide range of areas in Speech Pathology. As a result, she is able to be flexible in her approach with clients and is skilled at adapting therapy to meet the needs of individual people. Nikki is thrilled to be working at East Sydney Specialists and is very focused on holistic and collaborative patient care.
